spiritual maturity
no.1
of us wants to achieve, and here is a little
something that I've put together from a book
I've read. The content of that book really went
straight to my heart, and hopefully this summary that
I've done will get to yours as well. Call it a guideline if you will.
WkG + WdG + PC + OB + T&T = Spiritual Maturity!
WkG | Work of God
1. Maintaining Our Balance
We must be active in the pursuit of spiritual growth, while at the same time being passive, recognizing that God gives the growth.
2. Maintaining Our PerspectiveWe must not hate ourself. God is patient with our weakness. If He accept us in Christ, we must accept ourselves.
3. Patience in the ProcessWe must be patient in our process of growing spiritually, knowing that we cannot be holy in a hurry.
WdG | Word of God
1. Truth Doesn't Change
The Bible is God's permanent record to us, telling us what we need to know, be and do.
2. We need Absolute TruthWithout absolute truth, we have no basis for morals, no knowledge of God, and no hope of eternal life.
3. Our response to Absolute TruthThere are bad consequences for violating truth and good concequences for following it. Therefore, the only logical thing to do is to follow it.
PC | Personal Commitment
1. Our Actions
Spiritual goals and personal commitmet are an essential part of the spiritual growth process.
2. Our AttitudesAs we commit ourself to spiritual disciplines, a sincere and honest attitude is essential to keep us from "just going through the motions".
3. Our GoalsOur goal is spiritual. It is a relationship with God.
OB | Other Believers
1. All Christians Need Other Christias
We will never become spiritually mature unless we open our lives to the ministry of others.
2. We must be willing to Give to OthersWe can give others our spiritual gift, we can give them our resources, and we can give them our encouragement.
3. We must be willing to Receive from OthersIf we are in need, God may move others to meet our needs, but we must be willing to receive.
T&T | Time and Trials
1.Time and Trials in Scripture
The Bible teaches that trials over a period of time are used be God to bring us to spriritual maturity.
2. Biblical ExamplesThe spiritual models in the Scripture developed mature character through the "time and trials" process.
3. We need an Eternal PerspectiveWe must see "time and trials" as God sees them, as producing spriritual benefits and heavenly reward that cause them to be justified in comparison with the suffering.
