housebuilding

time and trials

Written on March 29th, 2005

God puts us to the test in little things, which don't always make any sense at all.
If we prove ourselves faithful, He knows He can use us in the bigger things.

"Imagine yourself a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on .. But presently, He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of .. throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace." - C.S. Lewis

"Both the time in the cocoon and trials struggling to get out of it are essential to transform the ugly little caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly." - Max Anders

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. [ James 1:2-4 ]
